Eastern Connecticut
About the Area
Clinton was founded in 1663 and has an incredibly rich history. From its inception, the town has flourished whilst being graced with frequent visits from the likes of Benjamin Franklin. Franklin, the Colonial Postmaster General at the time, personally determined the site of a Boston Post Road milestone marker on Main Street that can still be seen today. Hundreds of trading ships were also built and launched from Clinton’s shipyards, and this shoreline town has passed down its love of the ocean from generation to generation. In town you’ll find a plethora of unique stores, delicious cuisines, and various antique and specialty shops. For generations, vacationers, artists, and year-round residents have found pleasure and a deep community spirit at our shores, and we know you and your friends and family will create great memories here as well.
