About Lake Sunapee
Goodhue Boat Company has two locations on Lake Sunapee: one in Georges Mills, our “headquarters”, and another location in Sunapee Harbor. Lake Sunapee is home to great restaurants and shopping options while still maintaining their hometown feel. Our Cooper Street location is less than ten miles from Mount Sunapee, which boasts beautiful hiking trails and a family adventure park. The mountain also has a disc golf course, miniature golf, a mountain bike park, yoga classes, and a climbing wall. Mount Sunapee is sure to bring tons of smiles and laughs for the whole family! The 4,085-acre lake at Mt. Sunapee State Park Beach is an ideal spot for family and group outings, as it is a beautiful sandy beach. If you’re wanting to enjoy the lake without driving the boat yourself, you can enjoy a dinner cruise aboard the MV Kearsarge featuring a narrated tour by the captain, two decks of enclosed dining, an open-air walkway around the top deck and a delicious roast beef buffet. It’s a great way to enjoy the sights of the lake while you sit back and relax!
The MV Mount Sunapee also offers a narrated tour of the lake so you can learn the history, interesting spots, and the local lore. Lake Sunapee is also a great spot for fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and other water activities. If you want to get out of the boat and explore for a bit, the Fells Historic Estate and Gardens on Lake Sunapee is one of New England’s finest examples of an early 20th century summer estate. Once the summer retreat of statesman John Milton Hay it is open to the public and features guided house tours, outstanding colorful gardens, and woodland walking trails. Children are enchanted when they enter the fairy village and make their own fairy houses. It makes an interesting, educational, and fun day for the whole family. You can even test out your golf game when you need a break from boating at Eastman Golf Links. They have been open since 1973 and are rated 4-stars by the New England Golf Guide. They have a newly renovated clubhouse, fully trained staff, and multiple tee options – it’s no wonder they have been voted the best golf course in the state of New Hampshire multiple times! After all of your exploring, the Lake Sunapee area is home to some amazing restaurants! The Anchorage Restaurant and Lounge is a popular spot located right on the water for a lakeside dining experience. They have an expansive menu of burgers, soups and salads, and seafood options that will leave your mouth watering. If you want to wander around and shop, Sunapee Harbor has tons of options for you. Stop by A & E Harbor Shop, which is partly operated by two local, young entrepreneurs! This shop is perfect for Lake Sunapee themed home décor items as well as one-of-a-kind gift items and clothing. Sunapee Rock Shop is also located in Sunapee Harbor and is home to unique, hand-made jewelry. Wild Goose Country Store brings that small town feeling to the Harbor as well, with tons of unique finds. They have old time candy, products made by local artisans, and a plethora of gift options.
Between the adventures, dining options, and endless shopping, you and your family will certainly have plenty to do when you’re not boating! Lake Sunapee is also a popular lake for water sports, like skiing and wake surfing. Sunapee and the surrounding towns near Lake Sunapee have something for everyone, regardless of their age (or even if they’re furry and have four legs!). We can’t wait to get you out on the water for a great lake life experience!
