LOCATION IN REFERENCE TO BODY OF WATER
Carefree Boat Club Georgian Bay is located at Wye Heritage Marina in Midland, Ontario, the gateway to Georgian Bay’s 30,000 Islands. The marina’s location situated in the southeastern corner of Georgian Bay, is recognized as the best fresh water boating area in North America.
Georgian Bay provides a mix of large open blue water for the adventurous, as well as protected waters through the islands on the small craft waterway for leisurely cruising to enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
Breathtaking Coves
There is also plenty to see and experience when ashore. The communities of Midland and nearby Penetanguishene (among others) host several major events, such as the renowned Butter Tart Festival. Visitors can enjoy the restaurants and shops plus historic sites, accessible by boat, such as Penetang’s Discovery Harbour.
The vision of Georgian Bay for boaters is a place of spectacular beauty, boasting a combination of water, rock and windswept pines. But there are also some places on the bay quite incongruous with that vision. One of them is a group of four islands Christian, Hope, Beckwith and Giants Tomb, located just offshore on a point of land separating Nottawasaga Bay and Severn Sound.
Picnic on Secluded Beaches
These islands are one of the most popular day trips in southern Georgian Bay because of the ocean blue water and white sandy beaches that can easily rival those found in the Caribbean. If you are looking for something a bit different to do in the bay, and enjoy warm shallow waters and getting some sand between your toes, any of these four islands will make a great way to get away for a day.
Just minutes from the marina is one of the area’s most popular destinations, Beausoleil Island, the largest of the 59 islands that make up the Georgian Bay Islands National Park. The south end of the island features shallow warm waters and beaches. At Cedar Springs, boaters have the opportunity to go ashore and explore all the park’s amenities from hiking trails to campsites. The northern half of the island is classic granite and pine with several sheltered bays and multiple National Park docks to access picnic and camping sites or anchor out to relax and swim.
Spectacular Anchorages!
From Honey Harbour and Beausoleil Island you can head out into some of the most picturesque areas for cruising the 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay. Secluded anchorages, scenic passages, cottages from rustic to ultra modern, along with spectacular views makes exploring the islands a never-ending voyage of discovery.
Exploring all that Georgian Bay has to offer has never been easier than with Carefree Boat Club Georgian Bay.
