In the 13 years we’ve been around, the team here at Carefree Boat Club has fielded a lot of common questions and perceived “myths” about our club. This blog is here to debunk these common myths:
1. You have to own a boat
Nope. A lot of people ask us if Carefree Boat Club is a club of current boat owners. In fact, it is the opposite. With Carefree Boat Club, you side-step the hassles and hefty expenses of owning your own boat. Instead, we provide the boats and you get to explore, sport or play out on the water!
2. You must have boating experience
Yet another myth! A unique feature of Carefree Boat Club is that we have a very comprehensive training program that will meet your individual needs as a boat operator. We can share stories of members who joined with absolutely zero boating experience (some had never even been on a boat before!). Our training program covers both on and off-water training with our experienced and certified staff members. Still feeling apprehensive? You can request training as much as you desire during the entirety of your membership! Whether you feel you need a refresher on docking, night time navigation, or just want the reassurance of having a trainer on board, you are welcome to it as a member.
3. Memberships are more expensive than buying a boat
Wrong again. Our team has tirelessly crunched the numbers year over year to evaluate the true (and sometimes hidden) costs of boat ownership. In the end, we stand by the fact that your Carefree Boat Club membership is truly valuable and cost effective for your needs. Want proof? Contact a club owner near you to receive local market and manufacturer data to make the comparison.
4. You must live near a Carefree Boat Club
False. While many of our members live nearby a Carefree Boat Club, that is not a requirement. For example, let’s say you live in Raleigh, North Carolina and you spend many summer weekends at Lake Norman and have family in Charlotte. As a member of Carefree Boat Club, you could access all of the boats and amenities at our Lake Norman club locations! All members have access to all 36 Carefree Boat Club locations across the United States and Canada.
5. The boats aren’t available when I am
Incorrect. Item number 1 with this myth; Carefree Boat Club has a strict boat-to-member ratio that is upheld to ensure that no member will be in such a circumstance. Second item; Carefree Boat Club uses a online reservation system that allows you to reserve your boat in advance. Item number 3; we also invite last-minute or “walk-in” reservations at our clubs. We simply ask that you call ahead as soon as possible, and understand that your selection may be slightly more limited.
