5 Reasons to Take your Family Boating
by Paul Standring
As the winter winds down we have the chance to come out of our binge-watching hibernation and enjoythe fresh air again. Many of us spent the winter cooped up inside with our families and glued to a screen. Whether it be an iPad, cell phone, television or computer, we are constantly distracted with technology. Here are five reasons why you and your family should get out and go boating this summer.
Relieves Stress
As we have discovered in our adult lives, stress is not something that can be removed. The good news is that we can find ways to manage it. Taking the time with family to get out of the house and disconnect from everything will certainly relieve stress for everyone.
Boosts Confidence
Boating is a great way to teach your kids some new skills. Whether it be water-skiing, fishing, swimming or sailing, your kids have the chance to develop new talents they didn’t know were possible. Plus, what kid wouldn’t want to tell their friends “I got to sail a boat this weekend?”
Improves Overall Health
The mental and physical benefits of boating are far too great to list here, but the internet is full of statistics if you ever need a good reason to convince your spouse to go boating. Something everyone in the Midwest needs after a long winter is some Vitamin D. Being out on the water, soaking up the sun (with sunscreen, of course) is a sure-fire way to boost you and your family’s Vitamin D and overall mood.
Strengthens Bonds
Boating has the capacity to create deep bonds between family, friends, and spouses. Go out on a boating adventure together and see where it takes you. The stillness and beauty of nature is a perfect setting for bonding.
Creates Memories
The things we are all going to remember years from now will not be the time we spent on the couch. An afternoon of boating has the power to create life-long memories and stories to be told for generations.
