We all wish that every day was a holiday, but as our mothers often told us, if that were the case, the actual holiday would no longer be special, so instead of wishing for what we can’t have, we at Carefree Boat Club are here to help you make the most of your holidays. Memorial Day is next up to bat, offering a bonus paid day off work, and if you’re a member of our wonderful club, so many ways to make every minute count. Here are 5 ways to spend Memorial Day on the water in San Diego.
5 Ways to Spend Memorial Day on the Water in San Diego
This guide to five ways you can spend Memorial Day on the water in San Diego will help you find all the right ways to have the best time on a holiday that is often considered the kickoff to summer!
- Angling for the Trophy Fish
You’ve always dreamed of catching the big fish, and when you choose one of our fishing boats for your holiday adventures, you will have an edge over those who didn’t. Our fishing boats are equipped with top of the line equipment that will ensure you enjoy all the benefits of fishing without the responsibilities and costs of owning a boat. May is the perfect time for catching pretty much all the fish, except Striped Marlin which is better in June, July, or August, and lobster, which the season is closed for.
- Water Skiing or Tubing with the Family
Is there anything more fun that zipping across the water with the wife showing off her very respectable water skiing abilities as she is towed along behind the boat? Well, possibly the sound of the kiddos squealing excitedly as they hold tight to the inner tube to avoid being tossed into the water when you make the sudden turns. Everything about a day of water play is just that much more fun when you are enjoying the speed and power of our bowriders and the look of hero worship on your children’s faces after this day of excitement will certainly make you wonder why you never thought of this sooner!
- Sailing Off into the Sunset
All boat rides can be romantic, but there is something about sailing that just kicks the romance vibe up a few notches and when you sign up for a sunset sail on the online reservation system, you will experience a Memorial Day boating experience that won’t be forgotten. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance, so if the thought of sailing interests you, stop what you are doing right now, yes, that means stop reading, and get your name on the books for a sailboat on May 26th, which is the date of the holiday this year. A dock and dine dinner may be something you might want to consider, with Shelter Island and its many restaurants being the best place to do so. Bali High is one of our favorite dock and dine restaurants, but Jimmy’s Famous is another popular dock and dine spots.
- Plan Your Pontoon Party
A perfect day should not be wasted and since your friends all have the day off as well, why not pick a pontoon boat for your day of fun, sun, and water in San Diego? Impressing them all by going with the biggest pontoon and making them feel like you cared enough to spend the most (They don’t have to know that being a member of the Carefree Boat Club costs a fraction of what it costs to own a boat!) as you enjoy a day of music, companionship, laughter and so much more! Just don’t forget a camera, because you know you will want to document every moment of the carefree day you enjoy with your friends or your family.
5: Just Relaxing on Any of the Boats We Offer
You don’t have to have a destination or activity in mind to enjoy Memorial Day to the fullest and you don’t have to choose a specific boat either. Sometimes all you need to have a day of wonder and joy is a boat (any boat), open seas, and a willingness to just go where the water takes you. Maybe you will find a quiet cove to enjoy a picnic and a nap, shaded by trees, and letting the gentle bobbing of the boat on the water lull you into a peaceful state. Maybe you will stop for lunch at Lil Piggy’s BBQ, located on Coronado Island, because everyone knows that a Memorial Day BBQ is a very delicious tradition. There are no wrong ways to celebrate the holiday on our Carefree Boat Club boats, but there could be no way to celebrate if you aren’t a member. It’s not too late, though, Memorial Day is still over a month away, and new members can be on a boat in 5 to 14 days after joining, contact us to sign up today!
