When you live in the DMV area, it’s easy enough to forget that our nation’s capital is right in your backyard. If you do remember, it’s even easier to be turned off by the bumper to bumper traffic and a flood of tourists that surround the capital city. But listen up, locals, we mustn’t become bitter, the crowd is here for a reason!
People travel from all over the world to visit Washington D.C. and witness its rich history. There are countless landmarks, monuments, and memorials that are a lot of fun to visit and learn about. So, what’s a local to do if they want to see the sites while skipping the crowd? Consider a change of perspective.
A trip along the Potomac by boat is an awesome alternative to a walking tour of the D.C. monuments. A quick 45-minute boat ride from Carefree Boat Club D.C. will catch you picture-perfect views of famous landmarks. The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, the 14th Street Bridge, The Thomas Jefferson Memorial, and The Martin Luther King Junior Memorial are closest to our D.C. location but there are plenty of others to be seen. If you’d like, tack on another 45 minutes for a round trip, or continue up river all the way to our Occoquan location to make a day of it.
With a membership at Carefree Boat Club, you don’t even need to own a boat to do it! You can take out a boat at one of our Potomac area locations whenever you’d like, making a spur of the moment boating trip around D.C. monuments as easy to plan as a round of golf! Take it from us and don’t miss out on those beautiful Cherry Blossoms another year, see them from the privacy of one of our many first-class vessels and enjoy a ride that’s fun for the whole family while you’re at it.
