Pontoon Boats
Although pontoon boats are recognized as party boats, they are also a great way to bring the family together for a day of fun on the water. Not built for water skiing or tubing, they are, however, perfect for exploring the waterways of San Diego and can offer a comfortable way to get a little fishing done as well. Easy to drive and not having as much power as a speed boat or cabin cruiser may have, it is the ideal boat for those who have little or no experience at the helm. Put your name on the list for a pontoon boat and use it as a means of transportation for getting to many waterside activities or pack a meal and take an all-day picnic on the sea!
Ski Boats
We have made San Diego our home today, but that wasn’t always the case and as a youth in the Midwest, back in the days before Carefree Boat Club was even the glimmer of an idea, many of our parents owned ski boats that we put to use in the summer months. Memorial Day weekend was the kick-off to summer and generally the first weekend we would put the boat in the water and as cousins, siblings, and friends all had their own turns on the wooden skis, learning how to hold up against uncles who thought that when it was their turn to drive the boat it was also their duty to try and make us fall, and laughing at how cold the water was, especially in those early days. Today, water skiing and tubing are still one of the best ways to bring a family together and our Carefree Boat Club ski boats make it easy. (As do the skis that are generally no longer made of clunky wood, but a variety of other materials that are light and fast, including aluminum and fiberglass.)
Fishing Boats Perfect for Water Activities in San Diego
Other early memories of our childhood include getting up early to go where the fish were biting and although our fishing boats were more likely small wooden canoes or rowboats, the basis was the same. Carefree Boat Club fishing boats are fast and designed to handle the deep seas of offshore waters, so father and daughter, mother and son, or the entire family can enjoy a day of sea, sun, and the magical sport of fishing. There are many teachable moments to be had in this type of family excursion and can be the perfect time to let the child clean the fish, under close supervision of course. Older children may enjoy the challenge of sport fishing for the big fish, including Marlin which can reach up to 14 feet long and weigh as much as 2000 pounds! Sailboats
The beauty of skimming across the waters, sails flapping in the wind is an activity you and your family will never tire of. Sailing is, of course, more complicated than using a motor-operated boat, and lessons are recommended, but if you have ever sailed before, sailing with your family can be the most gratifying experience ever. Again, offering teachable moments (be sure to duck when the boom swings!) intermingled with sheer beauty. The quiet and calm waters of the sea at sunset, the sights of sea creatures at play, and the opportunity to witness a humpback whale breaching the waters in the summer months or gray whales as they migrate in the winter months.
