Happy New Year! What is your New Year’s resolution for 2024?
Events At The Club
Our Holiday Party was a great success! Thank you Marc, Oana, our members, staff and Port City Club. We filled over 70 boxes for Operation Christmas Child, woohoo! Here is a short recap of the party incase you missed it.
We participated in the Lake Wylie Boat Parade this past month. We were awarded with ‘Most Creative’ boat. Our theme was a gingerbread house! Check out our video from the parade, here.
Member Housekeeping
After rainstorms please be mindful of any floating debris, such as branches, logs, or other items that may have been washed into the water. We recommend reducing speeds and keeping a close watch to avoid any potential obstructions while out on the water.
Please make all your reservations by texting the dock phone directly. Since the winter months are slower, please try to give at least a 24-hour notice before you would like to go out!
Before your upcoming reservations, we’ll reach out to verify you are still planning to go out. Regardless of the weather conditions, rain or shine! This way, we can ensure that our employees are prepared and available accordingly.
Spotlight
Meet Gary, a valued member of our Carefree Boat Club team whose passion for the role shines through in every aspect of his work. His favorite part of working with Carefree? It’s the people. Gary finds immense joy in the daily interactions with colleagues and club members down at the dock. “I really enjoy the interaction with everyone who comes onto the dock! Plus….I get to wear shorts to work!” he shares. While picking a favorite boat from the diverse fleet is a challenge, he admits having a soft spot for the Aqua Office pontoon and Sea Salt bowrider.
One of Gary’s cherished work memories revolves around spending time with the high school and college kids who have warmly embraced him into their circle, calling him ‘Funcle Gary.’ His initial drive to work at Carefree stemmed from his love for boating and the water, having been retired for some time and new to the area! Outside of work, Gary and his wife love to hike, cheer on the Seahawks during football season, cycle with friends, and travel to new destinations and meeting incredible people—preferring to explore new places rather than revisit old ones.
Reflecting on his experience, Gary appreciates the welcoming atmosphere fostered by the leadership. “My experience at Carefree has been nothing short of wonderful! Marc & Oana made me feel welcome from the moment we first met,” he remarks. He values the shift from a corporate environment to one that not only provides excellent service but also prioritizes a fun and relaxed workplace, recognizing the company’s commitment to both its staff and members!
