Here are some tips to help you navigate the crowded waters safely and enjoy your time on the lake:
- Plan Ahead: Expect heavy boat traffic, so plan your route in advance.
- Maintain Safe Distances: Keep a safe distance from other boats, docks, and swimmers.
- Anchor Carefully: If you plan to anchor, find a safe, uncrowded spot.
- Be Patient: Wait your turn to avoid accidents.
- Sober Skipper: Designate a sober driver.

Spotlight
Meet Gavin Vezendy, one of our dedicated dockhands at Lake Norman. Gavin has been a valuable part of the Carefree Boat Club team for 3 years! He loves being on the lake and interacting with members, always ready to solve problems and ensure everyone has a great experience.
His family were members of the club for 8 years so he and his brother knew from a young age they wanted to be working on the docks with all of our boats. Gavin’s favorite memories from work are when a big storm is about to hit and it’s a rush against the clock to get all the boats in safely. “It’s always an experience sitting in the dock office while the storm hits the lake.” he said.
Gavin’s favorite boat in the fleet is one of our newer boats, Lake Dawg, it has the perfect wave for wakesurfing. In his free time, Gavin loves to wake surf and wakeboard and when he’s not on the water, he likes to stay active with snowboarding and pickleball! Next time you see Gavin be sure to say, hello!
Other News
As the temperature rises and summer reaches its peak, it’s important for everyone to keep an eye on the weather. The increasing warmth brings unpredictable pop-up storms that can appear suddenly and move quick. We hope that all of you will stay updated on the weather conditions, as we want to ensure the safety of everyone. Getting caught in the middle of the lake during one of these storms could be very dangerous.
