Keep an eye on your weather app to stay updated on the current conditions and get alerts for sudden pop-up storms! With the heat and humidity in our area, these storms can develop quickly and frequently. Don’t let unexpected weather catch you off guard.
Please be extra cautious during your outings after storms pass through, as they often bring extra debris into the lake. This debris can get caught on the boat and cause issues. Stay safe and have fun!

Combining his love for the water with the joy of making people happy, Hudson finds working at Carefree the perfect balance of fun and fulfillment. Hudson grew up on the water with a passion for boats, water sports, and the lake so finding a job with us was the perfect fit. He has been a part of our Lake Norman dock staff for two summers now! His favorite part about working at Carefree is seeing members smile when enjoying their day on the water.
Being one of our water sports instructors, his favorite boat in the fleet is Lake Dawg. One of his favorite memories from work is teaching a member’s grandkid to surf! “Watching their faces light up with excitement as they caught their first wave was priceless. Their initial nervousness quickly turned into laughter and shouts of joy, creating a wonderful atmosphere of shared triumph. It was incredibly fulfilling to see them discover a love for the sport and water, knowing that I had a part in making that moment special for them.” Hudson said.
Outside of work, Hudson is a semi-professional water skier and wake surf coach, dedicating much of his time to honing his skills and helping others improve theirs. If you see Hudson around the docks, be sure to say hello! He’s always happy to share his love for boating and watersports, offer tips and advice, or chat about your day on the lake.
