No matter the size of your family – big or small; boating is a bonding activity that will create long lasting memories and can be a very rewarding experience.
In this modern life, technology and the hustle and bustle of work and the kid’s daily activities can sometimes get in the way of spending quality family time together. Boating is a great family activity, because in a way it forces families to come together, to put the phones away and to spend the day together.
This excerpt from Legend Boats perfectly describes the importance of boating for a family:
“Families have forgotten about the importance of spending time together. Sure, everybody climbs in the car and goes to the games, however, this just isn’t the quality time that a family needs to maintain their bonds. Boating offers the perfect excuse for bringing your family away from the stress of everyday life, and being together for some fun.
When you’re out on the boat, the entire family is away from the typical distractions that interrupt life on a daily basis. A “no cell phone” rule should be instituted when your family is out on the boat. Yes, this also means no one can play games on their phones either. Initially, your kids might balk at this idea, but once you get them involved, they won’t give their devices a second thought.”
Also, packing a picnic or fishing for your meal are great ways to bond with family members, learn a skill or basque in the scenery!
In conclusion, here are some tips for improving quality boating family time:
- No cell phone policy for kids
- Pack a lunch, fish for lunch – make lunch together
- Partake in a water sport together, i.e. water tubing, wake boarding, etc.
- Fishing
