What’s included in Membership?

HOW DO MEMBERSHIPS WORK?

IS THERE A LIMIT TO HOW MANY TIMES I CAN BOAT PER YEAR?

No limit!  Members have unlimited access to boats.  Boat as much as you like.  Boats are available year-round, and our boats with cabins and heaters provide protection from the cold and rain. Our members can text our docks to instantly book any boat still available in the 48-hour window during the summer months and year-round members reserve boats online with rolling reservations so after you come back from an outing you can book another!

WHAT OPTIONS DO YOUR BOATS HAVE?

We strive to keep mostly new boats in our fleet. Most of our boats are 2023 and 2024 models. We also strive to offer members higher end options in our boats such as higher horsepower engines, bow thrusters, plush seating, upgraded sound systems, and more!

WILL I GET ANY TRAINING? 

YES!  Members receive free, unlimited “On the Water” training with our USCG certified captains.  Training covers navigation, docking, anchoring, and safety.  We specialize in helping members with no experience to become comfortable and confident boaters, and we even train on going through the locks if desired.  Each training session lasts about 2-5  hours, schedule as many as you'd like.

DO YOU HAVE FULL-TIME DOCK STAFF?

YES!  Our valet dock staff rolls out the red carpet for our members, helping you load yourselves and your gear onto the boats, going through safety items, and answering any questions while giving you local boating tips.  Upon return, we help you off the boats and back out to your car, leave the cleaning for us!  Boating doesn’t get any easier than this.

CAN I USE THE BOATS FOR AN OVERNIGHT OUTING?

YES!  Boats with cabins are allowed overnight once you are certified for overnight privileges. Overnights of up to 3 nights 4 days are included free with Standard memberships, more reservations available for a low rate. Longest overnight a member has done so far was a week-long San Juans trip from our Bellingham location.

ARE WATER TOYS INCLUDED? SALTWATER GEAR?

YES! Carefree Boat Club provides demo wakeboards, wake surf boards, and tubes. We also provide downrigger mounts and crab pots for all of our saltwater boats!

DO YOU HAVE MEMBER SOCIAL EVENTS?

YES!  We are a club and our members enjoy getting to know each other.  We have several member social events throughout the year, from bbq's on the beach to bowling nights and catered wine tasting events. Since COVID 19 we have gotten creative and have been organizing group cruises for members. You can check out videos of our latest cruise events here!

How do the reservations work?

 HOW DO I RESERVE A BOAT?

Reservations can be made online up to 6 months in advance by logging in to Resnet, our proprietary online reservation system, from any computer or mobile device. During the summer months, members can also call in and instantly book any boat available still that day or the next day. Our guarantee is that no location can be booked 3 weekends in a row so there is really no reason to book more than a month out even for overnight trips and major boating holidays like the 4th of July.

HOW MANY RESERVATIONS CAN I HAVE AT ONE TIME?

To maintain availability for all members, members may have a maximum of four advance reservations on the calendar at any given time.  Once a reservation is used, a new one may be made - also known as rolling reservations. We have cheaper membership options where you only have 2 rolling reservations at a time as well!

CAN I CALL ON THE SAME DAY TO GET A BOAT?

Yes.  Simply call or text the dock or your choice to find what’s available for “Spur of the Moment” use.  Spur of the Moment use does not count against your four advance reservation maximum.

HOW DO I KNOW I WILL GET A BOAT?

Our promise is that no location can be booked three weekends in a row. If you're planning about ahead and flexible about boat type, members can easily go out every weekend. Carefree Boat Club has been making boats available to members for 17 years.  With locations all over the country, we track boat usage by type and location, and can predict with accuracy when a boat needs to be added, or when we need to cap memberships.  As the premier nationwide boating club, we understand the importance of boat availability.  Ask to see our reservation system to see availability for yourself anytime!

How does pricing work?

CAN NON MEMBERS RENT YOUR BOATS?

No.  We have a private fleet of new or like-new boats for the exclusive use of our members, and our boats are never for rent.  Unlike fractional boat ownership, our members have no obligation or liability for maintenance or upkeep.  Carefree Boat Club has the best boat share fleet in Seattle and prides itself on both the quality and excellent condition of the boats, as well as maximizing availability for our members.

DO I HAVE TO PAY THE MEMBERSHIP ENTRY FEE EVERY YEAR?

No!  The membership entry fee is a one-time fee that is paid when joining the club, to help cover the costs of adding brand new boats to the Carefree Seattle boat fleet.  As long as you remain a member, you never pay this joining fee again.

WHAT DO I PAY FOR WHEN I BOAT EACH TIME?

Only the fuel you use.  Not having to pay any dock or usage fees allows for brief after work or lunch outings.  The boats are pristine and ready for you to hop on. You don't even have to fuel yourself, dock staff can fuel for you and simply charge you for fuel used at the dock.

WILL MY DUES INCREASE YEAR TO YEAR?

The dues amount is locked in for the term of membership which is member's choice for 1, 3 or 5 years.  Dues are billed monthly or annually.

IS INSURANCE INCLUDED WITH MEMBERSHIP?

YES! Insurance is included.  CBC maintains insurance that covers vessels, members, and guests, we cover insurance information in depth during our tours.
