As the seasons on the calendar go through their stages, a lot may change in your hometown, but here in the San Diego region, only the holidays, events, and school seasons really signify any change. We know how lucky we are living in paradise, and that wonderful weather that changes from great to amazing to the best weather ever is a huge reason we consider San Diego the perfect place to live. When you consider that ever season is boating season, well, there is no place else we would rather be! As members, or potential members, of the Carefree Boat Club, we have an inkling that you agree with us as well. Spending a day out on the sea, celebrating with friends on pontoon boats, practicing water skiing with family, and ending the day with a delicious meal on the water is guaranteed to become your newest obsession, especially when you find your way to these restaurants on the water in San Diego!
Harbor Fish and Chips, 276 Harbor Drive in Oceanside
The harbor of any seaport is always a fascinating place to explore, and Harbor Fish & Chips capitalizes on its location, offering patio seating with views of the boats bobbing at the docks, ensuring you can keep an eye on your Carefree Boat Club vessel! Keeping it casual makes it the perfect gathering place for friends and family, and the fresh seafood served here guarantees you will be coming back time and time again—perhaps even on days when you won’t be utilizing your membership to our club!
Caroline’s Seaside Café by Giuseppe, 8610 Charles F Kennel Way in La Jolla
There is nothing we love more than finding a charming little restaurant on the water before anyone else discovers how wonderful it is, and although Caroline’s is popular, we think its day to shine has not fully arrived yet. Serving breakfast, brunch, and lunch from a compact space, the patio is where you will enjoy fluffy pancakes, juicy burgers, and crisp and healthy salads while watching the action on the water. Located just off a pier, it is a fun place to walk before climbing back aboard your Carefree Boat Club cabin cruiser and “sailing” off into the wild blue yonder!
Brockton Villa Restaurant, 1235 Coast Boulevard in La Jolla
It’s back to La Jolla we go to visit a charming dining spot that offers a unique spot for enjoying a delicious meal on the water. What was once a cottage that looked over the sea, is now a historic restaurant serving your favorite brunch specialties, including breakfast bowls, pancakes, and a delicious new option destined to be your newest obsession, a Coast Toast which is French toast served in a fashion similar to a souffle. And as impressive as its dining history that dates back 30 years, this cottage was constructed in 1894, and its historic atmosphere is as exciting as its views of the sea!
JRDN Restaurant, 723 Felspar Street in San Diego
Coming in at number three for our favorite activity, following boating and traveling, people watching is always fascinating when done while enjoying a meal at JRDN Restaurant, located on Pacific Beach. Serving up fresh seafood with a side of incredible views, the patio overlooks the boardwalk which is popular with people from all walks of life. Offering a special Christmas menu filled with seasonal dishes, their cookie platter dessert will provide a special ending to an altogether wonderful Christmas Day!
Restaurants on the Water in San Diego: Cannonball, 3105 Ocean Front Walk in Belmont Park
There’s a different vibe at Belmont Park, an amusement park that has been an essential part of the San Diego seascape since the early 1900s, and Cannonball, although separate from the amusement park, reflects that historical ambience. Offering a rooftop patio with views that practically stretch from one corner of paradise to the other, its menu features a sophisticated blend of sushi, salads, and sweet desserts; their Matcha Mousse Cake made with white chocolate mousse, dark chocolate, and whipped cream is something we dream about!
George’s at the Cove, 1250 Prospect Street in La Jolla
Sometimes you want a meal designed to impress, be it the love of your life or potential business partners that you have spent the day entertaining with a seaside sail; George’s at the Cove is designed to do just that! A long-time special occasion spot serving pastas, seafoods, and haute cuisine that tastes as great as it looks, if your guests aren’t impressed, you may never win their favor!
