WELCOME TO 2021!
Dear Members,
As we promised, we are kicking off this boating season with many exciting changes and modifications to the Club! 2020 was a challenge to us all both personally and at the Boat Club. We have spoken with many of you and have received excellent input regarding boat availability and adding even greater value to being a member of Carefree. We are using your input to implement new procedures to minimize and/or eliminate these inefficiencies so that we can provide a better member experience. We greatly appreciate your input and will need each and every member’s help, cooperation and understanding in order for these changes to take effect and have the intended impact. But, before we get into that let’s cover some of the fun stuff!
New Boats and Our Locations
As I am sure you are aware, we have closed our club in Milford due to lack of demand in the area. However, we are opening a brand new club in New Rochelle at Castaways Yacht Club. From this beautiful location you have quick and easy access to New York City, and can further explore the waters of Long Island Sound.
We are also adding 14 brand new 2021 boats to the fleet! You can see the types of boats and their locations below, with photos of the new boats at the bottom of this email. But keep in mind, this is subject to change.
- Bridgeport – 1 Bayliner, 1 BRIG, 1 Rinker, 1 Tidewater, 1 Nauticstar, 1 Islander, 2 Robalos
- Westport – 3 Robalos, 1 Sailfish, 2 BRIGs, 2 Chaparrals, 2 Cobias
- Stamford – 2 Robalos, 3 Cobias, 1 Tidewater, 1 Chaparral, 1 Islander, 2 BRIGs
- Rye – 2 Robalos, 1 Cobia, 1 Chaparral, 1 Rinker, 2 BRIGs, 1 Bayliner
- New Rochelle – 1 Robalo, 1 Sailfish, 1 Cobia, 1 BRIG
Renewals
We are happy to welcome many new and returning members to Carefree for the 2021 season! As we have mentioned in the past, we plan to be sold out by the start of the season. If you are currently a member with an upcoming renewal date we will require that you lock in your renewal no less than 60 days prior to your renewal date. If you are not locked in by that date we will not be able to guarantee you a membership slot for this season.
Upcoming Newsletters
As mentioned above we are making numerous changes to the Club’s policies and procedures in order to run more efficiently, reduce damage to the fleet, provide better availability and a better member experience. To keep you informed of these changes, and not overwhelm you with information, we plan to send a newsletter every week through at least February, that focuses on a single, easy to digest topic. You can expect newsletters about training, new policies and procedures at the dock, or online resources to help make you a better boater.
How We Are Changing for 2021
You can expect new check-in and check-out procedures at the dock, a new training curriculum and a mandatory quiz, focusing on navigation, that each member must pass in order to have access to ResNet in the Spring. These policies and procedures have been developed and implemented with our membership’s best interests in mind. Through them, we are aiming to enhance our membership’s experience through further education with the goal of increasing availability through a reduction in boat damage. And, with your help, cooperation and participation, we can make your 2021 boating season the best that it can be!
