Update from our Owners, Marc & Oana Graveline:
We hope this note finds you well. This message is being sent to all of our Carefree Boat Club Charlotte members.
As we begin this next chapter, our hearts are filled with gratitude.
When we founded the club in 2010, we had just two boats, no members, and a very big dream. By God’s grace and because of your trust and support, that dream has grown into the wonderful community we all enjoy today. We have been truly blessed to serve so many families and to work alongside such an incredible staff over the years.
After much prayer and reflection as we looked toward retirement, our greatest priority was finding the right person to carry this club forward. We are excited to share that our longtime member, Dan Haggerty, is now the new majority owner. Dan has been a member for more than 11 years, knows our team and our fleet well, and shares the same heart for service and community.
We’re happy to reassure you that our outstanding staff will continue their roles, caring for you with the same dedication and familiar faces you know and trust. While we are stepping away from daily operations, we will remain partial owners and continue to mentor Dan and support the team during this transition.
Thank you for trusting us with you families, your time, and your memories on the water. We are deeply grateful for the friendships we’ve built and the opportunity God has given us to serve you. Though this comes with mixed emotions, we know the club is in very good hands.
We look forward to seeing you out on the lake. This time as fellow members enjoying the club alongside you.
With heartfelt thanks and gratitude,
Marc and Oana Graveline
Thoughts from our New Majority Owner, Dan Haggerty
As Marc and Oana shared, I am honored to step in as the new majority owner of Carefree Boat Club of Charlotte.
For the last 11 years, my family and I have been members of this club. I have been on the same boats at the same marinas as you for over 150 reservations since 2014 – creating over a decade of memories on the water for my family (which includes my wife, my three children who are 17, 13, and 11, and our two dogs). I didn’t partner with Marc and Oana just to own a business; I bought it because I believe in the lifestyle Carefree Boat Club of Charlotte provides, and I want to ensure it remains the gold standard of the lake.
I have deep respect for what Marc and Oana have built over the years. They didn’t just start a boat club; they fostered a community of lake-lovers and set the bar for service that is respected across the country. My goal is not to change the heart of what they created, but to honor their legacy by continuing to invest in the people, the fleet, and the experiences that make this club special.
My first action has been listening to you. A few weeks ago, we distributed a member survey to ensure my first days at the helm included the guidance of direct member feedback. With nearly 100 responses, it was clear: You value the cost-savings of the club over boat ownership; you love new and more premium boats; and you want more availability and family-friendly amenities. Our Team is reviewing the results and building a plan to exceed your expectations, while ensuring that the heart of the club – our community and our passion for boating – doesn’t change.
I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming Welcome Back member socials or on the boats themselves this spring to introduce myself in person. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me via my email:
[email protected] or my cell: (704) 589-8239.
Thank you for your Membership!
