When your stomach rumbles while you’re out at sea, there are many San Diego area restaurants to choose from. Many even participate in the unique “dock & dine” experience: you and your crew can pull up to the dock and either take a seat at the restaurant or order to-go and enjoy a meal on your vessel! Many boat accessible restaurants in San Diego have their own docks or are part of marinas where you can park your craft for the duration of your meal. Slips are typically available in 2- to 3-hour slots and are often first-come, first-serve. There are a variety of cuisines to choose from, too, with something for the seafood lover and the land lover in your boating crew.
Bali Hai Restaurant
While flying to locales with indigenous Polynesian cultures is expensive and time-consuming, you can have a taste of Polynesia right in San Diego. The waterfront restaurant is located in San Diego Bay Harbor and offers delicious Polynesian fare. Enjoy seafood dishes like tuna poke, oysters, coconut shrimp, and more for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. Visit their website for a complete menu, and to watch the “Mai Tai’s Sold” ticker go up and up! Lunch is served 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. Dinner is available Monday-Thursday 5-9 p.m., Friday-Saturday 5-10 p.m., and Sunday 4-9 p.m. Sunday brunch is available 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Marion’s Fish Market and Restaurant
Delicious seafood and a casual atmosphere is the perfect pause to your San Diego boating adventures. The waterfront locale offers stunning views from the outdoor dining area. Dine on delicious fish and chips, ceviche, fish tacos, clam chowder, and much more. You can choose from the menu, or “build your own” platter with choice of salad, sides, and protein. There’s a kid’s menu with fish sticks, popcorn shrimp, and mini roll tacos for smaller appetites. Hours are 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily.
Edgewater Bar & Grill
Park in one of the nearby slips and head to the waterfront restaurant. Sit on the patio just steps from the sand and water of San Diego Bay Harbor. Brunch features breakfast favorites like pancakes, French toast, eggs, and lunch favorites like burgers, flatbreads, fish and chips, and select seafood plates. Celebrate after a long day on the water with filet mignon, ribeye, seared scallops, fish and chips, calamari, poke nachos, and many other selections. There are a variety of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan dishes to choose from as well. Hours are Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., Friday-Sunday 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Mitch’s Seafood
If you’re looking for a locally sourced meal, you’ve found it. The seafood, as well as well as the wines and brews on tap come from local waters and California-based wineries and breweries. Stop in for breakfast before heading out and enjoy a breakfast burrito, chilaquiles, crab & avocado toast, or the “Fisherman’s Breakfast” – two eggs any style, red potatoes, bacon or sausage, and toast. Take a break from the boating fun and fuel up shrimp cocktail, tuna poke, New England clam chowder, and more. Enjoy crab cakes, fried calamari, or crab poutine. Choose from a selection of burgers, sandwiches, tacos, and more. Hours are 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily.
Pizza Nova
You may think the only kind of food to find on the waterfront is seafood, but you’d be wrong. Pizza Nova has a waterfront location in the America’s Cup Harbor inside San Diego Bay. Enjoy salads, hot wings, meatballs, and “cheesy bread” for starters. Choose from a variety of pastas, like Bolognese, tomato basil angel hair, or broccoli with penne, among others. The main attraction is their pizza. They offer a selection of woodfired specialty pizzas like margherita, goat cheese, and their “Pizza Nova” – smoked Norwegian salmon, red onions, and capers with goat cheese. Other selections include “Pepperoni White,” a pepperoni pizza with fresh garlic, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, and Parmesan cheeses. There are seafood dishes, too, like seared salmon and risotto, Parmesan Panko crusted Alaskan halibut, calamari, and traditional fish and chips. Hours are 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily.
