The No Hassle Gang decided go by boat to Chick’s Oyster Bar and have lunch on a sunny Friday afternoon. Kevin was our Captain on the 270 SeaRay Sundeck as we motored up the Lynnhaven Inlet. It took approximately 9 mins from Long Bay Pointe Marina Virginia Beach, including stopping along the way for Mike to take photos of the Osprey nest on the Green 11 Marker. Adrienne and I waved at the other boaters out cruising and fishing along the way.
Upon our arrival Chick’s Oyster Bar’s Dockmaster, Donnie, helped us tie up. Chick’s docks are fixed which means the dock doesn’t move with the tide. You may have to climb up during low tide, but Chick’s dock staff is there to assist.
Located in the Lynnhaven Inlet, Chick’s has inside, outside and covered outside seating to accommodate all comfort levels to enjoy the view. Chick’s Oyster Bar has an extensive menu of fresh local seafood. The No Hassle Gang decided to sit outside on the dock’s picnic tables to enjoy the summer weather. Our waiter, Gannon, was friendly and very helpful as we decided to all try something different. We enjoyed the soft shell crab tacos, the seafood platter lunch special, fat-tire steamed mussels, and the fried flounder BLT. Quite a few of the club members docked for lunch or motored past on their way to the Chesapeake Bay.
Chick’s Oyster Bar is opened all year round, but is one of the places to be seen in the summertime. The large hall added has made Chick’s one of Shore Drive’s hot night spots. And of course the Lynnhaven Inlet offers stunning sunsets!
It was time to get back to “real” work, so after lunch Chick’s dockstaff, Donnie and Jake, helped us back on the boat. We headed back to Carefree Boat Club at Long Bay Pointe Marina where our dock staff greeted us and helped us to tie off to our floating docks!
