Restaurant Week at the beach starts next week here in Virginia Beach. The beach’s finest restaurants and master chefs will bring delicious dining deals to Coastal Virginia. This is the 11th year for this event. For the region’s most creative culinary experience no matter what you order, there’s no better time to dine out!
Starting February 22nd, area restaurants will offer specially priced lunch and dinner menus, inspiring patrons to try new eateries and rediscover old favorites. Prix fixed packages usually including an appetizer or soup or salad, entrée and dessert. There are over 90 restaurant participating this year.
Restaurant Week Virginia Beach is Feb 22 – 28, 2016. Restaurants feature two course lunches for twelve dollars and three course dinners starting at twenty two dollars.

Did you know that the concept of restaurant week is from Tim Zagat and Joe Baum? Tim Zagat is the founder of Zagat Survey. The top coveted guide that covers restaurants in cities all over the world. Joe Baum was a top New York City restaurateur. He created such famous dining rooms as Windows on the World and the Rainbow Room.
The first NYC Restaurant week was in 1992. The pair planned it to coincide with the Democratic Convention. The week long event was such a success it has grown to encompass four weeks in New York City, instead of one week. Now many cities have implemented a Restaurant Week.
The general concept is that local restaurants partner with their tourist organizations or chambers of commerce to promote a week of lunch and dinner specials. Other partners may include local businesses, banks and food vendors. Restaurants offer reduced prices for a prix fixe menu, the idea being that what they lose in check averages they gain in sales volume. The gain for the diner is the ability to try new restaurants and foods at a set price.
