Visitors and residents alike come to California’s coastal towns to rest, relax, recharge, and enjoy the ocean, beaches, and all the fun activities the coast has to offer. Put on your bathing suit, grab a towel and gather your gear for a day of swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, or building sandcastles together. Board a vessel provided by Carefree Boat Club and embark on a trip through the waters of San Diego Bay, or out to the Pacific Ocean. There are a variety of Pier 32 Marina Activities to keep you busy on the water, as well as some things to add to the list once you’ve docked the boat for the day.
Fishing
Head out into the depths of the Pacific for your next big fish story! Before you head out, you’ll want to check your local fishing report for the most up-to-date news on what’s biting where. When fishing the waters of San Diego Bay around Pier 32, you can expect to hook yellowfin croaker, mackerel, calico and white sea bass, rockfish, halibut, yellow amberjack, and even tuna depending on the time of year. Make sure you have the proper California fishing license before your excursion.
Private Marina Facilities
Pier 32 is a private marina facility at the mouth of the Sweetwater Channel of San Diego Bay, and boaters with slips at the facility have access to the facility’s private land-based amenities. Spend some time at the fitness center building the muscle it’ll take to reel in your big catch, or lounge at the pool and spa to relax tired muscles after a on the water.
Grill up the catch of the day and enjoy it around the BBQ grills, or challenge each other to some basketball, or horseshoes, or practice your skills on the putting green.
Waterfront Grill
The restaurant offers salads, wraps, burgers, sandwiches like grilled cheese and tomato or a classic French dip. Warm up with some New England clam chowder or chili, or order a snack like onion rings, house-made Old Bay chips & dip, chips & salsa, or a soup and sandwich combo.
Enjoy delicious seafood like grilled swordfish, beer battered fish & chips, a fish taco bowl, or individual fish tacos. They have a brunch menu on the weekend, that adds delicious breakfast offerings like bacon, eggs, French toast, and waffles. Celebrate a successful weekend outing at weekend happy hours with wings, sliders, calamari, and more – and don’t forget the cocktail or other alcoholic beverage. Hours are Wednesday-Friday 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Maritime Museum of San Diego
Learn about San Diego’s maritime history. The museum is a great place to learn about the city’s place in maritime history. See historic sea vessels, and board museum-ships and submarines – many which hold permanent and temporary exhibits of everything maritime history, commerce, and exploration related to San Diego. You can even opt to take a historic bay cruise for an additional fee.
National City Golf Course
The course is a must-do activity for golfers of all skill levels. The facility includes a nine-hole course, driving range, and practice putting green. The range and putting green have lights, so you can perfect both your long and short game after a fun day on the water. If your clubs didn’t make the packing list, the club house offers rentals and other gear. After a round, fuel up at the snack bar.
Bayshore Bikeway
Rent a bike and get some exercise while you wander the 24-mile paved trail around San Diego Bay. You’ll pass locales like Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, and Coronado, historical sites, attractions – and take in plenty of beautiful scenery.
