Lake Lanier Islands – The closest thing to a beach in Atlanta, GA
Carefree Boat Club Lake Lanier is the optimal location for visiting the Lake Lanier Islands. Take a turn outside our cove and you’re there in 5 minutes. If you’re traveling from Atlanta, it could take you up to an hour and twenty minute drive!
Our members get to enjoy being close to a resort with sand beaches without having to drive! The Lake Lanier Islands are the closest thing to a beach in the Atlanta area. It’s like going on vacation to the beach without actually going to a beach!
Lanier Islands are home to Lanier World – a family fun park complete with “a variety of attractions, restaurants, activities, beach and water park sure to thrill adventure seekers and beach bums alike.”
Here is a list of some of the fun filled activities available at Lanier World:
- Over a half-mile of white, sandy beaches with lots of lounging space
- Dive-in family movies
- Daily live entertainment throughout LanierWorld all summer long
- A variety of dining options available throughout LanierWorld
- Over a dozen rides, slides and attractions including Georgia’s largest wave pool

In addition to fun activities available for the whole family, there is a resort with all different types of accommodations from villas to camping to pet friendly accommodations.
If you’re more interested in a beach day trip with the grandkids, boating is the most “carefree” way. You don’t have to worry about driving or getting stuck in traffic. You’ll also have your own sort of basecamp you can retreat to for lunch or to relax on the beach for awhile.
