Fishing Report
December 7, 2017
by Dockmaster Jason of Carefree Boat Club Virginia Beach & Hampton
Winter fishing is here. The docks are filled with the buzz of big fish. We are starting to see larger Striped Bass along the CBBT but mainly around the 1st and 2nd Islands. Although trolling is a sure fire way to bring in the meat, I personally enjoy casting to the pilings on the tide. Remember like the big Cobia of the summer, these Rockfish love eels. Like kids eating Christmas candy. You are going to want to rig the eel on a buck tail. Bluefin Tuna are being caught at Fisherman’s’ Island.
Winter can sometimes bring high winds. Don’t fret if the water is too rough to head out past the Lesner Bridge. We are still seeing Speckled Trout here in the Lynnhaven Inlet. Fishing not your thing? Don’t worry there is plenty of whale watching during the winter season as well.
Tight lines,
Jason
