Where to Take Family Holiday Photos in San Diego
Point your compass in the direction of the Cabrillo National Monument and find a plethora of spots that will serve as the perfect background for your family photos. The monument stands high on a plateau overlooking the sea and the city of San Diego and as you Cabrillo standing behind you your views will be stunning ones. Of course, you may want the sea in your photo, the panoramic views adding a festive cheer to your photographs, especially if dusk is beginning to fall and the holiday lights are beginning to turn on, building by building by building, until the sky is dark and the city shines with all the colors of the rainbow.
Olde Point Loma Lighthouse
Since you are in the area and family photos in front of lighthouses have graced the cover of Christmas cards for almost as long as photography has been a thing, why not wander over to the Olde Point Loma Lighthouse for more opportunities to pose? Your Carefree Boat Club boat will be fine for a little while longer, bobbing contentedly at the dock to which it is tied, as you gather your family at the base of the white lighthouse that saved so many boats from certain destruction over the years. This entire area actually offers many more photo opportunities, so hike along the Cabrillo Coastal Trail, the Bayside Trail, and/or the Oceanside Trail, adding a Beatle’s crossing Abby Lane to your finished shot.
Windansea Beach in La Jolla
This time we are going to let the waters take us to La Jolla, where to be completely honest, there really isn’t a bad place to take a picture. La Jolla truly is one of the world’s most beautiful towns, but a beach photo at Windansea Beach may just top all beach photos taken ever! Time the session to coincide with the setting of the sun and if you really want to make the shots taken shine bright, maybe add a small Christmas tree to the background, letting everyone who views the pictures taken know that paradise at Christmas can be found on this breathtaking stretch of sand, sea, and cliffs.
Belmont Park in Mission Beach
Dressed up for the holidays Belmont Park shines brighter than normal and whether you take candid pictures of the kids riding the rides, eating carnival food, or simply walking along the lighted paths, the joy in the pictures taken here will be patently clear. Also offering colorfully lit Christmas trees, this might be a great time to pose in your favorite Christmas sweaters, just not the ugly ones, as you won’t want anything jarring in these magical holiday photos. Your family will change, your children will grow up, move away, and one day have children of their own and moments like this are short, fleeting, and deserve to be remembered with all the joy the season can bring.
