Recreational boating has been on a consistent rise since 2006. The boating industry is introducing new models and types of boats, new innovations, shared economy models, and of course – boat clubs, like Carefree Boat Club. The Covid-19 Pandemic has strangely positively affected the boating marketing. Everyone staying closer to home and sticking to “our bubble.” There are only so many TikTok dances, macrame, and baking that we can do before we go – stir crazy. People who were once on the fence or had a casual interest in boating are getting out on the water.
What to do in ’22 (boating)
We just cannot wait to get out of our house. We remodeled. We relandscaped. We still enjoy our homes, but the outdoors is calling, and boating is the perfect social distancing activity. The attraction to boats includes their versatility: watersports, fishing, exploring, and relaxing.
Watersports: Watersport and Wakesurf Boats
Kids and thrill-seekers alike love watersport activities. Boating provides many ways to enjoy the water: water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, etc.… Recently the industry has introduced new boat models like wakeboard boats and wake surf boats. Watersports is exercise – using core work, muscles, and cardio.
Fishing: Center Consoles and Skiffs
Pre-pandemic, over 55 million people fish at least once a year. Of course, you can fish from the shore or a pier – but nothing beats fishing from a boat. There are species that you cannot catch from just casting on land. Anglers love the opportunities that fishing from a boat offers.
Exploring: Dual Consoles
Boating allows you to go places you cannot by land. Discover coves and islands. Observing wildlife in areas not easily touched by humans. Orcas in the Northwest, Humpback whales off the coasts, dolphins, and manatees in Florida. These are the experiences that make lifetime memories.
Relaxing: Pontoons and Tritoons
Just getting away from it all. There are health benefits to boating. Vitamin D, the sun, is essential for our bones. There is an intrinsic value in relaxing on a boat and making memories.
Boat Accessibility
The versatility of boating activities is the draw. The boating industry has allowed more families to get into boating. People were snapping up used and new boats between the steady uptick in recreational boaters and the beginning of the Pandemic. The 2021 supply chain issues have made it challenging to find new and used boats. This trend looks to continue into 2022.
