Boating on Lake Lanier

POSTED: Jul 21, 2025

Lake Lanier, Near Atlanta Georgia, is one of the best and largest lakes in the country. If you are looking to get onto Lake Lanier for the day there are several ways to do. This short blog goes over several options

Option One:  Lake Lanier Boats Rentals

If you select this option there are a lot of choices.  Prices range from around $150 to over $350 for the day.  Plan ahead though.  The best operations sell out quickly on a nice or popular Holiday Weekend.  The downside is most operations by Boats and Pontoons that were made for rental operations.  What does that mean for you …. Low Horsepower and fewer options. They also tend to be smaller boats so there are less accidents by newbie drivers.

Options Two:  Buy A Boat

This could be a great way to go if you are a “Boat Owner”.   Do you live on the lake … maybe  a great fit.  Have the proper truck to haul and the then a location to store…. maybe a great fit.  Otherwise, first find a marina that you want to make your home away from home.  This is critical is being a happy long term boat owner.  If you dont like hauling your boat and you dont like your marina options … then it will be a rough marriage to your new boat!  New boats are getting more and more expensive every day.  New pontoon now cost more than a lot of lower end and small fiberglass boats.  Pontoons with “3 Toons” or “Tri-Tons” range from $30,000 to $75,000.

Option Three: Boat Club

Try a boat club if you are not sure you want to be a long term boater, don’t have a great option to tow and store, need help learning how to boat, or you are not sure they type of boat you want.  Find a club with a wide variety of boats to choose from and multiple locations … its a great way to maximize your fun and limit your costs!

Option Four …. Borrow your friends boat.   Good luck on the 2nd request!
