I recently sat down with Julien Johnson, the owner of the Carefree Boat Club in the British Virgin Islands.
I am pretty sure I know the answer to this question but…why did you choose Nanny Cay in Tortola B.V.I.s for your Carefree Boat club?
JULIEN: The BVI is home and a boater’s paradise. The perfect location for a boat club.
What are the popular things to do by boat in your area?
JULIEN: Island hopping to visit beaches, restaurants/bars, watersports, fishing and just enjoying the warm waters all year round.
Are there any places to dine by boat?
JULIEN: There are many options in the BVI. Some popular ones are Willy -T, Pirates Bight, Soggy Dollar Bar, Leverick Bay, Coco Maya.
Is there a fishing venue and what is the season?
JULIEN: Very few of our members fish. If a member wanted to fish they would need to obtain an individual license.
What do the “in the know” members do when boating?
JULIEN: We have a secret spot called Little Harbour where you can swim with turtles. Many of our members start their day there.
What would you recommend a member visiting from another club do when they are boating from your marina?
JULIEN: Just come ready to enjoy crystal clear, warm waters.

The Marina
Nanny Cay Marina is a full-service marina. A modern and naturally sheltered marina with berths for 320 yachts with two fuel docks; pump-out station; 120/220V electricity; luxury shower facilities and restrooms; water and ice from Nanny Cay’s own R/O plant; garbage disposal; 100% site-wide backup power.
We feature three restaurants, a beach bar, hotel and villa rentals, a full-service boatyard and chandlery, a swimming pool, and a small beach. Fuel and ice are also available.
