Contributor: Carefree Boat Club of Southern CT
Spring is here and we are preparing for the 2020 Season! As soon as we receive notification from our marinas and fuel docks that they are open, we will begin the launching of the fleet. In the meantime, boats are already receiving their Spring maintenance – bottom painting, oil changes, cleaning and disinfection.
We want our members to enjoy this season without worry, so we want you to know that Owners and the entire Staff are taking the Coronavirus seriously. Being out on the water with your family and away from the clusters of people is a great way to be safe and stay active. We will provide safe recreation for members and want you to know that we have implemented a strict procedure for each Staff member to follow. Each boat will be washed and disinfected prior to each outing using the proper ratio of bleach to water as suggested by the CDC. Our Staff is trained on proper hand washing and instructed to stay at home if they feel any discomfort. If you have any concerns, please contact Mitch at [email protected]
Boating Certificates
Members received an update of Corporate’s policy regarding boating certificates and Foreign Reservations. All Members must have their signed and dated boating certificate on file with their home Club, so please be sure to send a photo to Marybeth Fede at [email protected]. Additionally, Foreign Reservations will not be processed without a signed and dated certificate on file.
ResNet Update
Corporate has updated the ResNet system which will now allow Members to make a reservation or cancel an existing reservation up until 5:00 p.m. each day for the following day. If you are interested in making a Spur of the Moment reservation, you will have the ability to view boat’s availability up until 5:00 p.m. each day for the following day. However, you must still contact the Dock Staff directly to book a Spur of the Moment reservation and must do so before 6:00 p.m. on the prior day.
CT Safe Boating Classes
We have confirmed class dates with our instructor, Mark Vining for the upcoming season. If you are interested in attending a class, please contact Marybeth Fede at [email protected]
Classes will take place at our Westport location and once you sign up for a class, Marybeth will provide you with additional information.

Stamford Location Update
Due to building construction taking place at BLT, Carefree’s operations will be located on each side of the West Branch Rippowam River. Two slips will remain on the existing side and six slips (including our office/houseboat) will be located on F Dock. The road near the existing dock will be closed periodically, but the Beacon will continue to offer free parking to Carefree Members. Be sure to let the parking attendant know you are a Club member. If you plan to park on the opposite side of the existing slips, there is a public parking lot located near Prime Restaurant. ResNet will be providing members information as to which dock the boats are located to assist members with parking.
