“Tubing is the perfect entry-level watersport because it’s non-intimidating, inexpensive, appropriate for all ages — and falling off is half the fun!” Examiner.com
According to Time Magazine, water tubing first started in the 20th century by Princess Chumbhot of Nagar Svarga.* Today it typically takes place on a large body of water such as a lake or a river and is accompanied by a boat towing it. Free-floating tubes usually consist of the person floating down a river where there is a natural current. Towed tubes are when the person is being pulled by a motor boat or PWC (Personal Watercraft.)
Tubes for water tubing are generally shaped differently that free-floating tubes. They are more durable and oftentimes in disk shapes versus donut shapes. Also, a synthetic fabric covers it to keep it from elongating during towing. It is accompanied by safety handles for the passenger to hold on to and an anchor for the boat line to attach to.
