BOATING SEASON IS UPON US
EMAIL 2 OF 3
Dear members,
Over the course of this winter there have been many new developments that will be implemented this boating season to give all of our members a better boating experience. We have brainstormed and discovered a handful of ways that we hope help to keep you engaged with the boating lifestyle and make you happier with your Carefree membership. We have also added new boats to the fleet and reallocated some from past seasons to other locations. Check out the fleet HERE.
As we mentioned in the previous newsletter, ResNet has been updated for the 2023 season. It has a new look and has been streamlined for easier navigation. We put together a short tutorial video describing how to use this updated version of ResNet, which you can view by clicking HERE.
Sea School
Advanced Training classes will be offered again this season. The Club received a positive response and found a noticeable decrease in damage. Advanced Training will be offered at all locations and topics will include:
- Advanced Docking & Throttle
- Navigation
- Anchoring, Mooring & Boat Trim
- Women’s Boat Handling
- Boat Handling for Water Sports
- Kid’s Boat Handling
- Trip Planning / Outing to Destination
Neil Davis, has been on our staff for the past 2 seasons at our Rye location. This year Neil will become the training captain for Sea School. Neil grew up on the water. His family owned a marina and began boating at 8 years old. He received his boating license at the age of 10 and owned boats ranging from a rowboat, 14 ft. boat, a 19 ft. Chris Craft and presently owns a 34 ft. Sea Ray.
Through the years Neil has explored Long Island Sound and boated numerous times to the Statue of Liberty. He is eager to share the knowledge and instructions he received from his father with you. His goal as captain of our Sea School is to ensure you become an informed, experienced, and confident boater.
Members will receive advanced monthly calendars via our Monthly Newsletter and class topics and dates will also be posted in ResNet.
Blog
This winter we have been working hard to create a new “blog” intended to enable Carefree members and staff to interact online. Some features of this blog include announcements for spur of the moment boat availability, weekly training tips, easy access to the Sea School Training Calendar, and more! You must request to join the Carefree Boat Club blog on Facebook, using this link.
This LINK will lead you to a video that explains exactly how to join and use the blog.
Popular destinations
Over the years we have heard from members that they don’t really know where to go when they take out a boat. We have tried to supply information on fun spots to see and experience and have heavily suggested that each member purchase an Embassy Guide so that they can plan their trips. This season we have made finding new places to go even easier!
On the dash, or side windshield, of every boat equipped with a Garmin you will find a sticker with a QR code. When you scan this sticker with your phone’s camera you will be taken to a website that allows you to choose the club you are departing from and then supplies you with a list of popular destinations in the area, from restaurants to fishing spots and everything in between. All of these destinations have been programmed into the Garmin units, so when you pick a place to go the GPS will lead you there!
Check out this video for steps on how to use the popular destinations on the Garmin. This video is also on the main web page after you scan the QR code.
New sister clubs on Long Island
Two new Carefree Boat Clubs have opened on Long Island. These clubs are located in Port Washington and East Moriches. We have spoken with the owner and if you are ever interested in using a slip of theirs to check out the town let your dock master know and they will be able to reserve you a slip at our sister club!
