SECOND QUARTER
The Air & Sea Show is an annual Air Show founded by producer Mickey Markoff in 1995 in South Florida. Some of our Carefree members & Staff attend this event every year! The show usually took place on the first weekend of May in Fort Lauderdale, and drew hundreds of thousands of people to the beach to watch. The event includes military and civilian performances, and was designed to help the U.S. military with recruiting, morale, retention, and to reconnect the U.S. military with the American public, giving it the unofficial nickname of Super Bowl of Air Shows. It has since developed into a tribute to veterans and active service members, and has been rebranded as ‘A National Salute to America’s Heroes”. |
May 20th our staff celebrated Wear Your Lifejacket to Work Day! Hosted by the National Safe Boating Council, this annual event is a fun, educational way to heighten life jacket awareness and highlight the various styles just prior to the official launch of the Safe Boating Campaign. |
THIRD QUARTER
Mini Lobster Season is a highly anticipated event every year, and our Carefree members love to participate in. The State of Florida years ago created a short sportsman season to allow recreational users to catch lobsters prior to traps being deployed and commercial season beginning. This season became known to divers and snorkelers all over the world as “Mini Lobster Season”. Over the years Mini Lobster Season has been modified several times over the years to account for changes in lobster stock assessments. The season lasts 48 hours July 27-28th, 2022 after which it closes and the regular lobster season opens August 6th – March 31st. |
Our staff & the Carefree Marine Group team traveled to Fort Myers after Hurricane Ian to help our sister club in Fort Myers. We gave thoughts, prayers, and all the help we could to them after this catastrophic time for them!
“We would like to highlight the generosity and efforts of Club owner Brian LaRue and his team out of Southeast Florida. On the weekend of October 1st, Brian’s team met with Kevin Bonnema, COO for Carefree Boat Club Network, LLC., who traveled down from Virginia, and from there, they drove to Fort Myers with truckloads of supplies. Brian and his team went above and beyond in their efforts, providing resources, including trucks, equipment, and manpower, to help assist in recovering boats and bringing supplies to the club as well as to locals. They gave away two generators, 200 gallons of fuel, a number of batteries, 50+ cases of water, and Gatorade, as well as other supplies. Our Central Florida club owner was also coordinating getting supplies to that area. We are grateful for the immense support of the Carefree family reaching out to those impacted clubs. “ |

Winterfest, best known for its one-of-a-kind Boat Parade that we let our members participate in. Bringing together the community and visitors from around the world. In 1988, community leaders decided to build upon the popularity of the Boat Parade and create a Not For Profit organization that would make the Parade and all of its surrounding events into a world-class community extravaganza. The International Festival and Events Association has named Winterfest to its top 20 Parades in the World. With more than 50,000 parades in the United States alone, this is a huge international honor that places Winterfest in the prestigious company of the Macy’s, Mardi Gras, Rose Bowl, and Disney Parades.
