About this club

Rockingham Marina is centrally located on the lake in its deepest waters. TVA isn’t raising the water level for at least another year while they’re working on Boone Dam. This has Rockingham Marina boaters in VERY high spirits as they have exclusive access to the lake. While the lower level has reduced the lake’s surface area by 20%, Boone Lake is STILL a larger body of water for boating than most inland lakes around the country. Here in East TN we’re spoiled with awesome large lakes, but Boone Lake remains larger than downstream Fort Patrick Henry and the bulk of Inland Lakes around the country… Take advantage of its convenient access from Rockingham Marina and the unique opportunity to see the beaches of Boone. I’ve never seen Boone with so few boaters. The entire lake is literally the best skiers cove for any water sports! It’s not crowded and there’s plenty of water. There’s also miles and miles of absolutely beautiful shoreline and beaches to explore.

Location in reference to body of water

Rockingham Marina is conveniently located centrally between Johnson City and Kingsport on Boone Lake. Boone Lake was formed in 1952 by the TVA dam just downstream of the Watauga River dumping into the South Holston River. The marina is on the Watauga branch about two water miles upstream from the end of the Watauga River. Those familiar with the lake will know the "cut-through" which is a small waterway around a TVA island. Rockingham Marina is on the opposite side to the island from the "cut-through".

Marina amenities

Rockingham Marina is a full service marina. Rockingham Marina’s new café menu has been completely reimagined by Chef Todd Dawn, formerly of the Bistro of Jonesborough, Tennessee. The new menu features fresh, lake-friendly sandwiches, salads, and sides, along with unique homemade ice creams and desserts. The café can also put together a “Picnic Pack” to take out on a boat for a day on the lake complete with snacks, sandwiches, sides, and drinks. Carefree Boat Club members enjoy 10% savings!

The Carefree Boat Club hosts the floor plan for the dealership with all new 2020 Chaparral, Manitou, Cobalt, and Premier boats. Step on land and all of your boat servicing needs are met at the four bay service facility.

With over 26 miles of boat-able waters, enjoy boating from either direction out of the marina.
