Fish Species to Reel in From Your Manitou Oasis 23 SHP

You don’t have to be an expert angler to make the most of time on the water fishing from your Manitou Oasis 23 SHP. The waters that surround sunny San Diego are teeming with exciting species to reel in and the challenge is half the fun! Anglers that head this way in the name of adventure will enjoy plenty of style options when it comes to types of fishing that range from in-shore and sport-fishing to deep sea adventures when you’re on the hunt for larger results. No matter where you cast a line, visitors are often surprised by the diverse range of fish that are available.

Perhaps one of the most easily identified species that thrive within the San Diego waters is the iconic Rockfish. Eye-catching with its bright red and orange hue, the Rockfish is found close to rocky bottoms around San Diego running about 150 feet deep much like their name indicates. The two most common variations of Rockfish in the San Diego area are the Vermillion Rockfish and the Starry Rockfish. Vermillion Rockfish are most readily available to be reeled in by anglers between March and June while Starry Rockfish are often caught between October and December.

The White Seabass is another frequently caught fish species reeled in around the San Diego area by anglers. While its name suggests otherwise, the White Seabass is actually a croaker, putting it in close relationship to the Black Drum and Redfish. White Seabass are often an appealing catch thanks to their impressive dimensions and can grow up to 20 pounds! Most boaters who set out to find White Seabass have the most luck between the months of March and June which is considered Seabass spawning season.
