Events At The Club
Today we are having the grand opening of our Morningstar McLean Marina location in Belmont! This new location will offer our members access to a variety of boats, including a double-decker pontoon, a 24′ bow-rider, and a 23′ triple-toon. We invite you to come out and celebrate with us and Maney from the Kiss 95.1 Morning Radio Show Maney and LauRen. There will be food, music, and drinks from 12pm until 4pm!
We are also excited to thank Kate Mueller for giving us some awesome ideas for boat names in the Facebook group. We’ve named our double-decker pontoon “Yeah Buoy,” our triple-toon “Dock-topus,” and our bow-rider “Nacho Boat!”
This past month we had a booth at the Baxter Village Spring Festival! It was so much fun getting to speak to everyone and tell them more about the club. We also took a truck through the parade and got to throw out beach balls, necklaces, and candy!
Spring Boating
Spring may still have chilly water temperatures but there are plenty of enjoyable things to do on a boat during this season. You can go fishing, many fish species are more active as the water starts to warm up! Have a picnic on the boat, watch wildlife, or take a relaxing sunset cruise to witness the stunning spring sunsets. It’s important to keep in mind that strong winds can create waves and choppy waters, which can make controlling your boat difficult. When winds are reaching a steady 12-15 mph we will have to call off boating until it calms down.
Sailors Corner
Looking for an exciting new hobby to enjoy on the water this spring? Look no further than our very own sailing instructor, Bob Hixon! With decades of experience in sailing, Bob is the perfect guide for anyone looking to learn the ins and outs of this fun sport.
Bob’s sailing journey began at the young age of 15, when he and his father built a 14-foot wooden Sunfish. Since then, he’s sailed on an array of different boats from a small one person sized dinghy to a 48’ catamaran. Today, he instructs on our 25′ Catalina and 28′ Erikson sailboats, providing personalized lessons to help our members improve their skills and confidence on the water.
As a Carefree Boat Club member, you have access to sailing lessons with Bob at no additional charge!
